About the Louisville Jockey Club Julep Cocktail
This banana puree julep doesn’t monkey around.
Ingredients in the Louisville Jockey Club Julep Cocktail
- 1.5 oz Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
- .5 oz Fresh lemon juice
- .75 oz Spiced Banana Syrup*
- 2 dashes Lemon bitters
Garnish: Mint sprig
Glass: Julep cup
How to make the Louisville Jockey Club Julep Cocktail
Add all the ingredients to a Julep cup filled with ice. Swizzle, and top with crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig.
*Spiced Banana Syrup
- 2 cups Sugar
- 16 oz Water
- 3 Cinnamon sticks*
- .5 tsp Grated nutmeg
- Banana puree (make your own or use frozen, such as Perfect Puree of Napa Valley)
Add the sugar, water and cinnamon to a saucepan over low heat. Simmer for 1 hour. Add the nutmeg and simmer for another hour. Fine-strain to remove the cinnamon and any other solids, and measure the amount of liquid. Stir in an equal volume of banana puree and let cool to room temperature.
