If desired, coat the rim of a highball glass with salt, fill with ice and set aside.
Add the remaining ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass.
Garnish with a lime wheel.
*Ginger Root Simple Syrup INGREDIENTS:
PREPARATION: Bring the water to a boil over high heat in a small saucepan. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Place the ginger in a mesh strainer and pour the syrup over while muddling the ginger.
