Holiday Gift Guide: The Home Bar

From a retro shaker to a stylish decanter to a high-tech muddler, you’ll find the perfect gift for your favorite bartender. To give or to get, these clever and beautiful bar tools and accessories will add panache to any home bar. Put them to good use.

Baccarat Abysse Collection Decanter and Matching Glasses ($2,700):

When only the best will do, consider Baccarat’s handcrafted crystal Abysse Collection decanter (pictured left) and four matching glasses. The stunning set is limited to just 1,000.

Metrokane Flip-Top Cocktail Shaker ($30):

Metrokane’s Rabbit corkscrew took the wine world by storm, and the company’s innovative Flip-Top cocktail shaker may also become a bar staple. Its one-piece cover/strainer keeps your Martini sealed inside during shaking and flips open with one touch for pouring.

OXO Steel Muddler ($12):

For mashing fruits and herbs for drinks, like a Mojito or a Mint Julep, you need a good muddler. Try this one, which has a die-cast zinc shaft, a nylon head that won’t scratch your glass and a comfortable grip.

Waring Pro Blender ($130):

To get crushed ice the perfect consistency, Waring’s Pro Blender uses a unique vortex grinding motion. This workhorse features a 40-oz carafe and a professional strength motor.

Meehan Bar Rollup ($150):

Keep your bar tools organized with this handsome and practical case that rolls up for storage. It was designed by our advisor and master mixologist Jim Meehan.

Yarai Mixing Glass ($38), Bonzer Barspoon ($13) and a Baron Strainer ($27):

Add a flair of elegance to your bartending with the Japanese-made Yarai Mixing Glass. The favorite of pros, it can hold 17 ounces, which is perfect for stirring two Manhattans at once. Don’t forget to get a professional, long-handled barspoon and a strainer.

Darby Martini Shaker ($85):

The vintage-inspired, cut-glass Darby Martini Shaker is essential for any retro home bar. It was designed by Thomas O’Brien for Reed & Barton and boasts a stainless steel top and strainer.

Shun Komachi 2 Serrated Knife ($8):

This bright yellow four-inch serrated knife is made of high-carbon stainless steel that not only provides a razor-sharp edge to cut through limes and lemons but also resists corrosion.

CB2 Formosa Tray Table ($50):

For those in tight quarters, a foldaway bar is a party saver. Ferry drinks on the stylish and sturdy Formosa tray, and watch it transform into an instant bar area when set atop its chrome X-style base.

So,you got good “hardware” in your home bar!! Does that make you a good bartender,or,what? Not really,it’s the kind of liquor you have behind all that hardware!Don’t think you are prepared to mix a good drink!Just keep good booze behind you,my friend! That’s the secret to having “Good Hardware” in your home.
