Summer is so tantalizingly close we can practically feel the sunshine and taste an ice-cold Tom Collins. But before that happens, we need to get through the next few soggy weeks.
While there’s not much we can do about April’s famous showers, at least we can weather the storms with a delicious cocktail in hand. Last year, we asked Angus Winchester, a British consultant and Tanqueray Gin global brand ambassador, and Jeffrey Morgenthaler, bar manager at Clyde Common in Portland, Ore., for some rainy-day recipes.
This year, we turned to another talented bartender, Anu Apte, who is no stranger to precipitation. She owns the acclaimed establishment Rob Roy in water-logged Seattle and shared with us two of her drinks.
And if you’re waiting out a downpour, instead of looking out the window every five minutes, try making her aptly named Window Pane (pictured above). It combines whiskey, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur, lemon juice and mint.
